Goodman & Griffin: FAQ

Will Goodman & Griffin take care of all the legalities involved in buying or selling my home?
Yes. Goodman & Griffin's team of law clerks and lawyers will handle all aspects of the closing. For a closer look at what we do, please refer to Lawyer's Role.

When do I sign documents?
Goodman & Griffin will contact you to arrange a convenient time for you to sign documents a couple of days prior to closing. Please make sure that all persons on the title to the property attend the signing.

When do I bring in the down payment?
When you attend to sign documents (a few days before closing) you are required to bring in a Certified Cheque for the remaining balance necessary to close the transaction. This cheque must be made payable to Goodman & Griffin and cover the down payment, land transfer tax and closing costs.

When do I get my keys?

On the day of closing, typically in the afternoon, the keys will be delivered from the land registry office to Goodman & Griffin. If you are purchasing a newly constructed home, keys are usually released directly at the sales or construction site office.

What do I do if I want to change my closing date?

Contact your real estate agent to have an amendment to the agreement prepared and delivered to Goodman & Griffin as well as your mortgage lender. All parties must be in agreement before any dates can be changed on the Agreement of Purchase and Sale.
